Dog Royalty Newsletter: July 2017

Who can believe that we are halfway through the year already?! The time has flown past at Dog Royalty HQ as we move into chillier times. In the last month or so we have welcomed a large number of new recruits to our pack, and with this some fantastic new playmates for all our pups! We were also thrilled to be featured on the front cover of the Inner West Courier and featured across the news.com.au platform, as Calley continues her quest for Australian fame, from her humble Northern English roots. :-)

We hope you enjoy this month's newsletter, which will help you get to know some of our new patrons, covers a few of our favourite doggy days out around Sydney, and will also help you to get to know our colleague Sarah a little more too.

Thanks for your continued patronage,

Chris (Founder, Dog Royalty)

NEW RECRUITS To get an idea of the mix of doggies any one day will bring to our Dog Royalty Mansion, we have collated a quick snapshot of June joiners so you can get to know them too (click to see details):

Fun Facts about our recent dog daycare joiners:

Youngest patron: Aoife - 3.5 months old (Kelpie, Petersham) Oldest patron: Affie - 11 years young (German Short-haired pointer, Camperdown) Smallest: Chewy (French Bulldog x Fox Terrier, Kingsford / Maroubra) Largest: Kobe (Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Newtown) Siblings: Finnish Lapphund Oska (Leichhardt) joins his sister Kiva (Maroubra)

Cutest: Way too hard to call!

BOARDING

Lucy and I have also been having a ball with all our boarding guests, who have made themselves at home alongside Calley, cuddling up during the cold winter nights in Zidane's case!

Don’t forget to let us know if you’d like boarding for any wintery escapes or trips to sunnier climates coming up, or just need the odd overnight stay.

STAFF PROFILE: SARAH

You will all recognise the lovely Sarah from your home pick-ups and Instagram, but here are some fun facts you might not know about our resident dog whisperer:

  • FROM: Sarah is originally from just outside Liverpool, England

  • DOG: Sarah moved to Sydney with her dog Jack, who is a Springer Spaniel

  • FAVOURITE DOG WALK: Taking Jack to Rose Bay Dog Beach

  • FAVOURITE TRICK: Sarah loves to teach Dog Royalty patrons to 'Spin' (a 360 turn)

  • DOG BACKGROUND: Sarah has worked in RPSCAs in the UK, Australia and the US (ASPCA) so has loads of doggy experience.

  • INTERESTING FACT: In a past life Sarah used to be an Operator Mechanic in the Navy, and used to steer aircraft carriers as part of the role!

winter in sydney

Winter is well and truly underway in Sydney, which totally transforms some of our favourite dog walks. We’ve listed a few of our favourite spots below…

MARRICKVILLE

We are spoilt for choice in Marrickville with Vic on The Park and The Henson – we love a brisk winter walk around Henson Park followed by a mulled cider at either of these dog-friendly pubs.

A new find for us has been Marrickville’s HJ Mahoney Reserve where dogs are allowed off leash at all times outside of sports matches being played which makes the afternoon the perfect time to explore.

NEWTOWN

Next weekend we are planning to rug up warm for stroll around Newtown’s Memorial Reserve, finishing in The Courthouse’s dog-friendly (and heated!) beer garden for dinner.

CAMPERDOWN We visited the newly sanded dog park in O'Dea Reserve recently and loved the new sand – it’s the perfect spot for a run around with lots of dogs at peak time and the ground is really soft on Calley’s paws which is an added bonus! Top it off with a flat white and a Puppuccino from Newtown's Cuckoo Callay.

FEATURED DOG OF THE MONTH

NAME: Archie BREED: Groodle

COLOUR: Golden

AGE: 14 Months OWNER: Vanessa

SUBURB: Newtown NICKNAME: Archipoos BEST FRIEND: Harley the cavoodle

FUN FACTS: Archie used to live with Harley (also pictured) and despite their size difference they are almost inseparable at daycare and even like to sleep in the same crate. He is a gentle giant but quite shy so often hangs out with the small dogs, although has grown the courage over time to rock it with the big boys too.

As always please let us know how we can improve our services for you and your dog, we love feedback and new ideas. And don’t forget a recommendation to a friend means free daycare credits for you both.
